Retrofitz - DIY Conversion Kit

After browsing Pedal Consumption, I found this great product!
The Retrofitz DIY Conversion Kit. With this kit, you can turn every pair of shoes into SPD compatible shoes.

I think I might order a kit as soon as my Vaudes are done. Put this kit in a pair of proper low top hiking shoes and you got a bombproof pair of MTB shoes...

A Ride Guide to Fort William

My cousin send me a link to this video about the Fort William trails.
Enjoy!

Votske™ Wishlist: Renovo Badash 29er

That's not just a nice looking frame with a wood print on it, that's actually a wooden frame!
The Renovo Badash 29er is a trash proof MTB frame that can handle almost everything you can throw at it. And it's completely made from wood! (And some natural aluminium where it's needed, like the dropouts).
So besides being a very pleasing bike to the eye, you can hit the trails with it too!
I can give you a lot more info about this bike and why it's so awesome, but you can also read it at Cycle EXIF and of course at the Renovo website.

Snowride

Last Sunday I had to work, but my friends did go out for a ride. Gerard-Jan made this nice video of their ride.
Enjoy.

Etnies - Lo-Cut II LS

Back in the days when I still rode bmx, I loved the Etnies Lo-Cut II!
I never rode with a pair of shoes that had such an incredible pedal grip AND that lasted so long. Well, a pair of Vans' waffle sole might have better grip, but you're gonna thrash that within a month...
So today I was browsing the Etnies website and I found out the Lo-Cut II is back!
These days I don't ride bmx no more and on the MTB I ride with SPDs, but for the people that ride with flat pedals, I can highly recommend these bad boys!

I'm thinking about getting a DH or FR bike any time soon, so I might have to get a pair myself...

Amber the Downhill Dog

Buffel (my lovely dog) and I are training right now to make him listen a bit better. When we're done, I hope I can take him with me on my rides! Just like Amber.

Where the Trail Ends

The trailer already gets me amped to ride, so I really wanna see the whole movie!

Change in Focus

This blog used to be all about fixed gears and FGFS, but the last half year I had a change in focus.
I didn't touch my Radio Bombtrack in ages, but I love to ride my singlespeed MTB!
For me playing in the mud is way more fun...
So to put some life back into this blog, I will change the focus more to MTB-ing. Downhill, CX, XC, Enduro, whatever fun things I can find.
Hope you can still enjoy the blog.

Votske™ recommends: Vaude Trailhead Low

I recently build a singlespeed cyclocross / mtb hybrid (gonna post about that soon). And for that bike I "needed" SPD shoes. Since I got small feet with a high arch, most velcro closing shoes don't work with me. So this Vaude Trailhead Low SPD shoe with laces works extremely well!
And they don't look that bad either. On and off the bike. Just like most SPD shoes, they come with a nice stiff sole, but what I really like about the Trailhead, is that you can walk around on them without looking like you're tap dancing...
Extremely comfortable cycling shoe that looks nice too. I'd buy it again!

Got mine at CycleNation (nice new bike shop here in Arnhem, gonna post about that soon).

Danny Hart's winning run in Champéry 2011

Danny Hart's winning run in the Champéry 2011 MTB World Campionships is just insane!
Racing down a mountain in such conditions and with such a speed ain't normal!
And the excitement of the reporters makes this video even more fun to watch.
