All-City Macho Man Disc

While browsing Urban Velo, I found out All-City is bringing a disc brake version of their Macho Man cyclocross bike.
I like it with the gears, but I'd love it as a singlespeed cyclocrosser!

Gizmo Pictures - 2013 CX World Championship

How much can one person see during a day of cyclocross racing? Look through the lens of Keith Walberg as he made his way around Eva Bandman Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The atmosphere was electric for the first ever elite world cyclocross championships held in North America. Enjoy in full 1920 widescreen if you can!
soundtrack: Experience by Ludovico Einaudi
camera: Panasonic GH2
Lovely video of the 2013 UCI World CX Championships.

Nice Win Lars Boom!

Lars Boom was a hero in his CX days, and nowadays he's become a strong roadie.
Yesterday he won the second stage (TT) in the Tour Méditerranéen and he became first in the overall standing.
But the best thing about his win was the way how he did it!
With his CX background, he know's how to switch bikes really quickly, and that exactly what he did yesterday! The first part of the time trial was almost flat, but in the last bit there was a climb. So at the bottom of the climb, one of Lars Boom's mechanic was standing there with his much lighter road bike. He switched his time triall bike for his road bike to be much faster on the climb and he won!

Job well done!

1950's Cyclocross

Lovely footage of a really hardcore cyclocross race in 1950's UK.
Love it!

Bruce Gordon Cycles - Rock n' Road All Terrain 700c Tire

If I had a CX bike or a gravel racer, these tires would be on it!
Lovely profile, and I'm a huge sucker for gumwalls...
If Bruce Gordon Cycles would make these in a 2.2" version, I would be on cloud nine.
But here is some tech talk about the Rock n' Road All Terrain 700c Tire.

  • It measures 43mm (1.72") x 700c
  • It weighs 540 gr.
  • Made in Japan by Panaracer.
  • Costs $50.

Mike Teunissen, Louisville 2013

Both Mathieu van der Poel and Marianne Vos made Holland very proud last Saturday, but the way Mike Teunissen crushed Wietse Bosmans in the last round was REALLY impressive!
Still get goosebumps when I watch the footage. So that's why I wanna share it with you.
Enjoy!

Votske™ Wishlist: Evoc CC10L Team

I was browsing for a new affordable backpack, and during that search, the Evoc CC10L Team caught my eye.
It's not so affordable (read outside my budget atm) but it has a shitload of really nice features. It's small, but big enough to house my 2L camelbag, and it still has plenty of room for tools, a jacket and some food.

And you can't ever go wrong with a classic rainbow jersey colorway!
Especially after Holland's 3 out of 4 in Louisville!

Louisville 2013

Tomorrow the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships start at Louisville!
According to Urban Velo, the course has been extremely muddy for the last week, but the temperature dropped and the ground froze. Could be a very interesting Worlds!

Even the Wallstreet Journal wrote a piece about it...

That's handy...

I found this pic at Fixiebarcelona's Facebook. Since they're Spanish, I got no idea which brand has this amazing brake cable guide on their frames, but I love it!

Change in Focus

This blog used to be all about fixed gears and FGFS, but the last half year I had a change in focus.
I didn't touch my Radio Bombtrack in ages, but I love to ride my singlespeed MTB!
For me playing in the mud is way more fun...
So to put some life back into this blog, I will change the focus more to MTB-ing. Downhill, CX, XC, Enduro, whatever fun things I can find.
Hope you can still enjoy the blog.

Votske™ recommends: Vaude Trailhead Low

I recently build a singlespeed cyclocross / mtb hybrid (gonna post about that soon). And for that bike I "needed" SPD shoes. Since I got small feet with a high arch, most velcro closing shoes don't work with me. So this Vaude Trailhead Low SPD shoe with laces works extremely well!
And they don't look that bad either. On and off the bike. Just like most SPD shoes, they come with a nice stiff sole, but what I really like about the Trailhead, is that you can walk around on them without looking like you're tap dancing...
Extremely comfortable cycling shoe that looks nice too. I'd buy it again!

Got mine at CycleNation (nice new bike shop here in Arnhem, gonna post about that soon).
